We welcome the progress achieved by Bulgaria on its way towards adopting the euro and encourage the continued efforts towards meeting all the convergence criteria, a statement issued after the two-day Euro Summit in Brussels on March 22 says.
In June, Bulgaria is awaiting an assessment on whether the conditions for the introduction of the single currency have been met. Earlier, outgoing Finance Minister, Asen Vassilev, said that Bulgaria is likely to request an additional assessment in the autumn, because it is then expected to meet the last of the criteria - the inflation rate.
