Students' social and emotional skills are key to their success, both in school and later in life. That's according to a 2023 study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's Directorate of Education.
Bulgaria is one of the few European countries to take part in the study, which covers nearly 3,000 students from 75 schools.
The data show that the development of social and emotional skills is hampered in Bulgaria due to a lack of training among teachers and insufficient inclusion in the curriculum. Thus, issues such as violence and gender stereotyping remain significant challenges for the school environment.
