With the first meeting of the Council of Ministers we start the intensive preparation of fair and free elections on 9 June, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev opened the first meeting of the government on April 11.
"As a caretaker government, this is our first priority and we will implement it strictly, respecting the constitution and laws and in close coordination with the Central Election Commision. The integrity of the vote is without alternative. That is why attempts to buy votes and rig the vote will meet our firm resistance. The caretaker government organises elections but does not participate in them. It is going to be an intense campaign, to say the least. In this situation we are obliged to remain cool-headed from the first to the last day of this government," Glavchev said.
At today's meeting, ministers vote on the costs plan for the preparation and conduct of the elections for MPs and Members of the European Parliament, which will be held on 9 June.
The new caretaker finance minister, Lyudmila Petkova, said upon taking office that the spending for the upcoming 2-in-1 election amounts to 100 million BGN.
