What is happening in Parliament is an absolute farce. I am at a loss for words and, I assure you, this very rarely happens to me, “There is Such a People” (TISP) leader Slavi Trifonov wrote on Facebook on April 13,(apparently referring to the failure of the Parliament to elect a Speaker).
"Somewhere on some TV, some so-called political analyst said that all the MPs are to blame. All but 11. Or at least I can vouch for the fact that 11 MPs in this Parliament are trying to behave with dignity and responsibility, but they don't have that opportunity. (TISP is the smallest political group and has 11 seats in the 240-seat Parliament).
I am watching television like all Bulgarian citizens and, probably, like all of them, I feel like I am in some kind of a madhouse. Or at least certainly the other political parties, apart from TISP, are ignoring me as a citizen of the Republic of Bulgaria. All their oaths about how important the problems facing the country are not worth the air over their heads, because without an elected Speaker, this National Assembly is just a sit-in of 229 unoriented people. And instead of doing their job as MPs and servants of the sovereign, electing a Speaker of the National Assembly, forming a government and doing their work, they meet for 15 seconds. And I am not exaggerating, because today's sitting lasted 15 seconds. Clearly, they are trying to make a deal somewhere, but not in Parliament. Where - I don't know, but apparently those who arrested the others are now trying to get along without offending their voters, but they are doing it stupidly, not according to the rules and in the end they are setting everyone against themselves," Trifonov said.
Election of Speaker of Parliament is postponed until after Easter
