The ultimatum that GERB-UDF leader Boyko Borissov gave to “We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria” to resume negotiations for a cabinet with Mariya Gabriel as Prime Minister is expiring. For now it is not clear whether there will be anyone to make the first step for the resumption of talks.
At the moment there is no visible convergence of positions.
There have only been announcements through the media with the message from WCC-DB and GERB-UDF to each other "The next move is yours".
On Thursday, March 21, WCC-DB reproached GERB-UDF’s PM designate, Mariya Gabriel, for breaking the formula of trust by presenting President Radev a mandate with a cabinet line-up without having the agreement of WCC-DB for it. They called on GERB-UDF to take responsibility and propose a specific plan for the continuation of the talks.
WCC-DB to GERB-UDF: The next move is yours
GERB-UDF to WCC-DB: The next move is yours too!
This was followed by a response from GERB-UDF with full support for Mariya Gabriel as a nominee for Prime Minister, another call for an apology and a firm statement that Finance Minister Assen Vassilev was not acceptable for the cabinet.
Outgoing Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said he did not think they owed an apology.
