In a letter to a number of institutions and media, Bulgaria’s caretaker Prime Minister, Gulub Donev, called for a sign of sympathy with the peoples of Türkiye and Syria by lowering the Bulgarian national flag on administrative buildings to half mast on Friday, February 10, 2023.
The Prime Minister's call is in relation to the earthquakes that have severely affected a number of regions in the south-eastern parts of the Republic of Türkiye and north-western Syria, and the more than 19,000 people who have died, as well as the seven-day national mourning declared in the Republic of Türkiye.
The Prime Minister's letter has been sent to the National Assembly, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, all ministries, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Audit Office, the BNB, district governors, mayors of municipalities, the BNT and the BNR, state agencies and state commissions, executive agencies, as well as administrative structures established by law.
