Caretaker Minister of Tourism, Ilin Dimitrov, on February 6 said he expects a successful tourist season this winter. This became clear during the presentation of the work of the Ministry of Tourism during the ninth caretaker cabinet.
His priorities will include the deployment of national advertising for Bulgaria as a tourist destination, sending three new attachés to Romania, the UK and Turkey and transparent procedures for renting beaches through video surveillance. The ministry will let the State Agency for National Security (SANS), the Ministry of Interior and the anti-corruption agency monitor how beaches are rented.
If possible, Minister Dimitrov will adjust the Recovery and Resilience Plan in the field of tourism. He promised transparency in the work of the ministry.
A guarantee fund for tour operators is being developed. We are working in the right direction, Ilin Dimitrov pointed out. His ambition is to prevent so-called illegal tours. Joint inspections are forthcoming, he said, calling for reports to be filed with his department. Ilin Dimitrov wants a law to be made in the field. These practices should be stopped, he said.
