Prime Minister Boyko Borissov did not attend the plenary session during the debate on the no-confidence vote against the cabinet on 23rd of January.
The motion is based on corruption. The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) insisted that he appear in the plenary hall. "Without the Prime Minister, we cannot start debating the vote of no confidence," Dragomir Stoynev of the left-wing BSP said.
The Speaker of the National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva explained that Prime Minister Boyko Borisov will be notified.
BSP leader Kornelia Ninova said the Prime Minister's "deafening absence" is a confession of guilt in corruption. "Bulgaria will become a normal state. I promise you!” Ninova said.
Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva noted that a few days ago in Brussels the prime minister said that corruption was being tackled, but he asked the left-wing why they missed the fact that corruption is a problem not only in Bulgaria but also around the world.
