Coronavirus in Bulgaria: Total confirmed cases is 2292

Thirty three new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours. The tests conducted for the period are 1,432. The total tests conducted since the start of the epidemic in the country are 68,243, i.e. 9,749 per one million population, the secretary of the national coronavirus task force said at the daily briefing on May 20.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country is now 2,292.

Twelve of the latest cases were registered in Sofia, 2 of them were hospitalised and 10 are undergoing treatment at home. Four of the latest cases were in Pleven, three were reported in each Blagoevgrad, Vidin, Pazardzhik, Sliven and Yambol and two were reported in Vratsa.

A 13 year old child from Sofia tested positive for the virus.

Two new cases among medical professionals were registered: one in Pleven and one in Vratsa.

38 more people have recovered over the past 24 hours.

Four more people diagnosed with Covid-19 died, thus bringing the total number of fatalities to 116.

A 71 year old man died in Pirogov hospital in Sofia. He also had chronic heart failure and chronic kidney failure. The man was from the old people’s home in the village of Gara Oreshets.

A 92 year old woman died in St Anna hospital in Sofia. She also had underlying health conditions including high blood pressure and problems with the liver. The woman was from the old people’s home in the village of Kula.

A 53 year old man died in Targovishte. No underlying health conditions were identified.

A 36 year old man with decompensated diabetes died in Yambol.
