The Commission for Consumer Protection is continuing its inspections into excessive mark-ups on essential food products in shops.

The latest inspections revealed mark-ups of more than 100%. What do the latest figures show?

Maya Manolova, Chair of the Commission for Consumer Protection: “We have launched 11 proceedings over unjustified price increases involving cheese, milk, tomatoes, cucumbers and other essential goods. We have also continued our work analysing mark-ups. The mark-up on this butter — which is practically worth its weight in gold — is 135%. Another brand of butter has a mark-up of 85%, and that too is worth its weight in gold.”
