The Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament, Tsveta Karayancheva, has scheduled an extraordinary sitting for next Tuesday, April 28.
The sitting had been requested by the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP). The only item on the agenda is a hearing of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on the effectiveness of the health, economic and social measures taken against the coronavirus pandemic, BNR reported on April 22.
The hearing was scheduled to take place yesterday, April 21, but failed due to lack of quorum. Ninety-one MPs registered as present. To form a quorum, Parliament would have required 121 out of a total 240 MPs.
The opposition BSP blamed the Prime Minister for "hiding from people's issues" and no plan for a way out of the crisis. The ruling GERB responded saying that the Socialists were seeking a political PR.
