The curve is currently climbing. Bulgaria will reach the peak of its Covid-19 cases in the next few days, Professor Todor Kantardzhiev, director of the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases and a member of the national task force told BNT on April 23.
"Our country is doing very well so far, and there are several reasons," he said.
Kantardzhiev added that the reasons for the relatively low number of cases of coronavirus in Bulgaria were the “political decision” to take measures, and the daily meetings of the task force in the Council of Ministers.
The measures that Bulgaria had taken to limit the spread of the virus had been timely.
Prof. Kantardzhiev: We see what is being done in the neighbouring countries and I can tell you that the measures we took were not rigid, but they were taken on time.
He said that if there was an increase in cases of coronavirus in Bulgaria, it would be because of those who had taken trips to the countryside during the past Easter four-day weekend.
Prof. Kantardzhiev: Unfortunately, a small percentage of Bulgarians made it so that they found a way to leave Sofia.
