The Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, ordered the executive directors of the companies managing the markets to set up organisation to ensure the compliance with all measures against the spread of the novel coronavirus, the press office of the municipality said on April 9.
The management of the markets is required to introduce controlled access in order to prevent gathering of many people in one place and to provide separate entrances and exits to the markets for the flow of people.
The 2 metre distance between traders and clients is obligatory, as well as wearing personal protective equipment.
Markets are obliged to regularly disinfect the spaces.
Officials of the Regional Health Inspections and the Ministry of Interior will monitor for the compliance with the safety measures.
Cooperative and farmers’ markets are not allowed to sell live animals.
