Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with the leaders of CITUB and Podkrepa trade unions Plamen Dimitrov and Dimitar Manolov on April 13.
The focus of the talks was the social and economic measures taken by the government to support Bulgarian workers and businesses during the state of emergency declared because of the spread of COVID-19.
We have introduced important measures such as the 60/40 scheme to help businesses pay their employers’ wages , we have focused the support to the most affected sectors by the coronavirus, and we are also helping our extremely vulnerable citizens as single parents and Bulgarians without income," Prime Minister Borissov said during the meeting, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov.
In the course of the conversation, trade union leaders said the government's measures are working and delivering results.
"We continue to take action to address the social and economic impact of COVID-19. And with your expert help, I am convinced that we will find the right solutions for the Bulgarian people," Prime Minister Borissov noted.
He added that the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy continues to work every day to find new instruments to support the groups in need, as well as to protect employment and income of workers
