Bulgaria’s Parliament on September 3 accepted the resignation of Stefka Stoeva as head of the country’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
Stoeva resigned last week, pointing out personal reasons. In a meeting with CEC members, however, Stoeva said she did not accept the responsibility for acquiring machines for machine voting to be transferred to CEC as set out in the envisaged changes to the Electoral Code.
The BSP and the MRF demanded that a new chairman be elected as soon as possible.
