The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) on September 11 registered the 'Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning' coalition for participation in the October 27 early parliamentary elections. Shortly after that, the CEC voted to refuse registration of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) party. This happened at a commission meeting this evening.
The decision to register 'MRF - New Beginning' was supported by 15 votes in favour.
Earlier today, the Supreme Administrative Court overturned as unlawful the CEC's refusal to register the 'MRF - New Beginning' coalition for participation in the early vote. In its ruling on September 11, the court said that the Central Electoral Commission’s (CEC) refusal to register Delyan Peevski’s 'MRF – New Beginning' coalition for the October elections was illegal, and ordered the CEC to register the coalition immediately.
The court's decision is final and is not subject to appeal.
