The crisis management headquarters in the coastal city of Bourgas on January 10 declared flu epidemic in the whole region, which will come into effect from 12 to 17 January inclusive.
The measures that come into force include suspension of visits to patients in hospitals, enhanced screening for ill infants and staff upon entering kindergartens and nurseries, suspension of preventive examinations and immunizations. Schools have temporarily cancelled in-person attendance classes. Students will study online.
Flu and respiratory illnesses have caused nearly 35% absence rates in kindergartens, said the Mayor of Bourgas, Dimitar Nikolov.
