In videoconference with Charles Michel, Bulgaria’s President Radev called for "green corridors" for tourists

Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev on May 20 took part in a videoconference with European Council President Charles Michel, at which topics from the European Union's agenda were discussed, as well as the forthcoming extraordinary meeting of the Council on 24 and 25 May.

The issue of facilitating the free movement of people within the EU, through the so-called digital green certificate, was raised during the conversation.

President Radev called for the creation of "green corridors" for tourists from European countries, which would greatly facilitate tourism.

The President also highlighted the efforts of Bulgaria for the transition to a carbon-neutral economy to take into account social aspects and not to lead to a loss of competitiveness.

"For countries like Bulgaria, 50% of our energy mix comes from coal-fired power plants. If we want to meet all the requirements, for us it would mean huge investments from the state budget. And what will be the result? The result is that we will lose our competitiveness." said Rumen Radev.
