Kilometres long queues of cars and lorries formed at Kulata-Promahon border checkpoint in the afternoon on March 4. The reason, according to border authorities, is the increased control because of the large number of people coming from Italy.
The details of the vehicles are entered into the system, while passengers’ body temperature is being measured and are offered medical examination in if they are not feeling well. The measures are obligatory for those arriving from IItaly.
At the border checkpoint, 24-hour duty is being provided by medics from Southwestern Hospital in the town of Petrich. No thermal cameras have been installed yet. Those entering the country told BNT that they had waited to cross the border for more than two hours, and the queue of cars and lorries at times reached 5-6 kilometres from the Greek side.
