A rescue operation lasting more than 10 hours was carried out by the Mountain Rescue Service – Sandanski in the Pirin Mountains.
Rescue teams assisted an injured hiker in extremely challenging mountain conditions. The difficult terrain, combined with the onset of darkness, made the operation particularly demanding.
A helicopter dispatched to assist was unable to land despite several attempts. The operation involved five mountain rescuers and three volunteers.
