Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev began on April 20 two days of consultations with the six groups in the newly-elected Parliament ahead of handing over the first mandate to seek to form a government.

Radev first met representatives of GERB-UDF, the largest parliamentary group and the one to receive the first mandate. Later, he met representaives from the second largest political group in Parliament, "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria".

Today, April 21, he is meeting delegations of Vazrazhdane, MRF, BSP and "There is Such a People.

It is an honour for the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) that it was in power when Bulgaria joined the EU, obviously the MRF should enter power so that we can join Schengen and the euro zone, the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Mustafa Karadayi, said at the consultations with President Rumen Radev on April 21.

Karadayi clarified that for now the natural place of the movement is in the opposition because it is not involved in talks for a majority.

The MRF came to the meeting with a treat for the Ramazan Bayrami holiday, which the Muslim community in the country celebrates today.

The Head of State pointed out that politicians face two challenges - passing the budget and important laws and forming a government.

"But there is also a risk for the legislature of not forming a government and if we go by the standard procedure, there is a risk that this will lead to failure with the legislative activity and this will lead to risks for our full European integration and development. All of this is overlaid as a complex system of tasks that this Parliament has to solve. You said that you are in opposition - what are the conditions to move from opposition to a constructive factor in this process, given that you share important priorities," Rumen Radev asked.

MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi pointed out that 20 days have been missed after the April 2 elections, during which instead of dealing with how to structure a majority in the National Assembly that will elect a regular cabinet, we are observing that the first two political forces entered the field of populism to define some bills to be considered, without having a subject that would be responsible for these actions.

"Bulgaria urgently needs to do its homework clearly, firmly, with dignity and in a very short period of time to take advantage of the EU funds earmarked for Bulgaria and to channel them very effectively to investments in Bulgaria. That is why we need prepared people who can and know how to make this happen. Because there was a motto during the election campaign "There is a way" by people who showed that they do not know how, and here in front of you are people who have proven that they can," Karadayi said.

According to MRF, the 3% deficit is achievable. Regarding the legislative programme, Karadayi commented that many of the priorities set out in it are also recognised by MRF, but there is no clarity about the content and outcome of these bills and when talking about reforms, it is clear how everyone understands different things.

President Rumen Radev pointed out that Bulgaria needs a stable government to meet its goals and expressed hope that MRF will help in this process.

Karadayi clarified that MRF is not part of the emerging majority because of the approach and lack of dialogue.

"This approach, in one way or another, puts us in our natural place - since we have not participated in these talks and are not part of the emerging majority, we will be in opposition," Karadayi said.

MRF called for reason and dialogue with the other political parties which would lead to the formation of a stable government. Speaking after the consultations with President Rumen Radev, MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi clarified that it was possible for this to happen within the first mandate in the form of a coalition government.

"At the moment there is no dialogue - there are talks. Let's call for reason and responsibility and through dialogue let's start making our efforts to form a responsible majority in the National Assembly. This can happen with the first mandate. Let's transcend our personal and party egos for the sake of public interests for the sake of the people so that through reason, responsibility and dialogue to form a majority in the National Assembly whose agenda coincides with the agenda of the people, we can elect a stable cabinet," MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi urged as he left the meeting with the President.
