The total number of people infected with coronavirus in Bulgaria is 695, of which 581 are active cases. There 37 confirmed cases of medical staff, with a new case of a 43-year-old midwife from the Emergency Medical Centre, the national coronavirus task force said at the daily morning briefing on April 14.

Ten more people have recovered.

The death cases from the virus are 35.

The mass testing of residents in Bansko ski resort and army staff is on ongoing. Tests were done on all the staff of a navy ship, they are all negative, but they remain under mandatory quarantine.

The Bulgarian mountain resort was placed under strict quarantine on March 17 after a 9 year old child from the UK on a ski holiday in the resort tested positive for coronavirus. After that another British tourist tested positive, followed by 3 more cases of local people working in the tourist industry.

the first results of the mass testing showed that 28 people tested positive in Bansko, accounting for 8.4% of those who took a test, the chief state health inspector, Prof. Angel Kunchev said. According to him, this means the circulation of the virus cannot be stopped, but “we manage to keep it under control with the fewest fatalities,”, he added.
