A wild bear bit a woman in the area of the Dancing Bears Park near Belitsa in the Rila mountains, south-west Bulgaria.
The woman went into the woods with her husband and their two children to pick mushrooms. The bear attacked her and bit the entire left side of her body. The man and children started screaming and the bear ran away. The woman is in stable condition, with no risk to her life.

Residents of the area posted photos of the aggressive bear on the Facebook page of the Hunting and Fishing Association. The mayor of Belitsa, Radoslav Revanski, has applied for a permission to hunt the down the bear. This morning the bear reappeared in the park area, Revanski told BNT on July 2.

The road to the Dancing Bears Park has been closed for human safety reasons. Many of the residents of the mountain villages go out at this time of year to pick mushrooms, herbs and berries, with which they earn money for food.
According to experts, it is very likely that the bear was surprised by its meeting with the woman and that the attack was a defensive reaction.
