Two children have died from coronavirus. One is a 7-year-old girl, who a chronic neurological disease as an underlying health condition.
The other child was 9 years old and died in a hospital in Plovdiv on September 19, but to date has not appeared in the official report, which is published daily by the Ministry of Health.
An investigation into the case is currently underway.
The ministry confirmed the case and explained that another disease was recorded in the system as the cause of death - a severe form of anaemia.
Only this month, the paediatric deaths are 3, after a baby died at a hospital in Lovech in early September.
Since the start of the pandemic, the number of children who died from Covid-19 is 12, and this number does not include the 9-year-old girl. Although experts say an increase in cases is expected, the number of infected people under the age of 18 in the fourth wave is comparable to the worst moments of the infection at the end of last year and in the spring of this year.
Last year, the largest number of infected children for one day was on October 31 - 192. During the wave this spring, the record was 185 - on March 16. There are 175 infected children today.
