By a decision of the Council of Ministers on 18 October, 27.5 million BGN will be allocated to support farmers. Thus, the funds for the sector under the de minimis aid until the end of the year will become BGN 47.5 million. Small and medium-sized enterprises will be able to benefit from these funds.
Further BGN 16 million will be allocated to farmers who use irrigation. The money will cover 80% of the costs of the water that the framers use. So they will only pay 20% of the cost.
Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov also announced that today Bulgaria will send an official letter to the European Commission, requesting that the ceiling for support to farmers harmed by the situation with Ukraine be lifted.
"In this way we are implementing some of the points of the agreement with farmers, as we are implementing the other points in the meantime," Prime Minister Denkov noted.
