The Bulgarian road hauliers lifted the counter-blockade at all checkpoints along Bulgaria-Greece border on 21st of February after an appeal of Bulgaria’s Minister of Transport Ivailo Moskovski because of the severe conditions experienced by the drivers on Greek territory and as a sign of good will towards the Greek side, where negotiations between the Greek authorities and the protesting farmers are taking place on 22nd of February.
The Greek farmers aslo liftet the bloackade. The long queues of lorries and cars, which were blocked for days, are gradually decreasing and vehicles are going through the border. However, it is not known whether the Greek farmers will leave the border crossings open and until when.
The lifting of the blockade caused congestions on both lanes of Struma motorway in the direction towards Greece. Bulgarian police regulated the traffic. About 6,000 lorries waited to cross the border.
