The checkpoint Kulata – Promachon was closed for traffic of freight vehicles on 16th of February. The protesting Greek farmers have not lifted the blockade since midday on 15th of February, despite the agreement reached last week according to which lorries were supposed to be allowed through every day in the hours between 11:00 and 16:00.
Discontented lorry drivers decided to organize a counter blockade and to close the border on the Bulgarian side.
The queue of lorries keeps growing and is now nearly 12 km long.
The border checkpoint is completely blocked. The drivers at the Bulgarian side said that the main motive to close the checkpoint for traffic was that the Greek farmers violated the agreement signed last week and did not open the agreed “window” between 11:00 and 17:00 to let freight vehicles through.
