Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will participate in the informal meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the Member States of the European Union in the Romanian city of Sibiu on May 9.
The leaders' meeting in Romania is central to the rotating presidency of the EU Council, which the country took on January 1 this year.
The European leaders will discuss aspects of the strategic agenda for the period 2019-2024. These include promoting peace and stability, maintaining the European perspective for the Western Balkan countries, cooperation on migration, pursuing a balanced trade policy, promoting European investment in defence and the role of Europe as a world leader in the fight against climate change.
The Leaders' Meeting will end with the adoption of the Sibiu Declaration on the Common Future of the EU Countries, sending a message of unity and trust in the joint actions of European countries.
