The debate on the vote of no confidence against the government did not take place on Friday 23rd May for lack of quorum. The extraordinary sitting of the Bulgarian Parliament did not start because only 109 MPs registered presence at 10.00 a.m. Another attempt was made to secure the needed quorum after a 20 minute break given by the Chairman, Mihail Mikov, but again the number of MPs did not reach the required 121.
Today’s extraordinary sitting was scheduled for discussion of the vote of no confidence submitted by the opposition party GERB over the government’s energy policy.
This has been the fourth no confidence vote filed by GERB against the cabinet.
Parliament’s next regular sitting will be held on Wednesday 28th May.
