The centres for distribution of aid for the floods affected victims in the North Bulgarian town of Mizia will be temporarily closed. The reason is the depleted food products, supplied by big stores and individuals. However the volunteers are ready to return as soon as new donations are supplied in the centres, the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) announced on 1st of September.
The flood affected victims in Mizia still need the volunteers’ help. Although the aid distribution centres will close temporarily, the social kitchens in the town will continue to work, the Head of the Bulgarian Red Cross, Hristo Grigorov said.
On 2nd of September, the National Public Council will review the requests of the 7 flood stricken municipalities. So far, the two donation campaigns of the BRC have raised nearly 2 million BGN. Tomorrow, the first sum of 500 000 BGN is expected to be transferred to Mizia to assist with flood recovery and repair of damages.
Additional 500 000 BGN have been provided by the International Organization of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent. The donation campaign for raising funds continues.
