The district court in the South Bulgarian town of Pazardzhuik has postponed the court case against Ahmed Musa and his alleged supporters, accused of spreading the ideas of Islamic state.
Three witnesses were scheduled to appear in court on 28th of July for questioning, including the former secretary of the Chief Mufti Ahmed Ahmedov. However, at the start of the hearing, a verbal clash arose between the defence and the representative of the Prosecutor’s Office which ended in a 500 BGN fine for the defence lawyer and a warning for the prosecutor.
The reason for the tension became the story of the first witness, according to whom one of the defendants had a flag of the Islamic State in his room and was regularly wearing a hat and a T-shirt with the symbols of the terrorist organization.
After the verbal clash, the lawyer left the courtroom, which led to termination of the court sitting. It was postponed for 16th of September 2016.
Ahmed Musa Ahmed and the other defendants were arrested on 25th of November 2014 after a special operation of the Bulgarian Prosecutor’s Office, the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and the Ministry of Interior conducted against radical ideologies in four Bulgarian cities.
