Following an order by the Council of Ministers, checks have been launched on food shops against artificially inflated prices. The inspection started from the coastal city of Bourgas on February 15.
Inspectors of the Commission for Consumer Protection, the Food Safety Agency and the National Revenue Agency entered one of the large retail chains.

The main objective is to check whether the announced promotional prices of certain products are respected and whether they have been deliberately made more expensive beforehand.
Fines for detected violations reach up to BGN 50,000.
