Centre-right GERB pointed out its leader as candidate for the Prime Minister’s post and received the support of the Reformist Bloc. This is the most stable option for consolidating the majority in the 43rd National Assembly, said Radan Kanev, the leader of the DSB from the Reformist Bloc, after the end of the talks on a coalition with GERB, held on 4th of November. He confirmed that an agreement was reached on the structure of the new cabinet and the names of the future ministers. However they have to be discussed by the parliamentary groups of the Reformist Bloc and GERB.
The new government will have 3 Deputy Prime Ministers and 18 ministers, announced Roumyana Bachvarova from GERB. Within the talks, 1 Deputy Prime minister and 6 ministers from the Reformist Bloc were proposed and approved. She added that it is possible to have 1 minister from the centre-left ABC party, but did not clarify whether there would be a minister or an expert from the Patriotic Front. The ministry of the Economy, Energy and Tourism will be split into three separate ministries, as it was expected. Both Kanev and Bachvarova said they would take ministerial posts.
Consultations on other political parties’ support for the programme declaration on governance agreed between GERB and the RB and in view of forming a stable parliamentary majority are expected to take place.
