Lithuania tops the euro area ranking, with inflation at 6.1%. Price rises are measured using the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). Across the European Union, Romania recorded the highest inflation rate, at 6.5%.
This puts Bulgaria in second place among euro area countries and third across the EU. The lowest rates were recorded in Sweden (1.0%), followed by Hungary and Denmark, both at 2.1%.
Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute (NSI) measured annual inflation at 5.7%. The discrepancy is due to the use of different indices.
