January 27, Friday, will be a non-school day for students in the town of Pernik. The extraordinary holiday is due to the International Festival of Masquerade Games "Surva", which starts on the same day snd runs until Januar 29.
One of the highlights of the first day of the mummers’ festival is the children's "Survakaryada". It will start in the morning and almost all schools in the municipality of Pernik will participate in the parade with their groups.
For the first time, the children's Survakari group “Prelichotine” from the town of Trun, which revives the masquerade tradition in the border region and will also take part in the children’s festival.
There are 22 groups and more than 800 participants that have registered to take part in the children's Survakaryada fesival . This year a jury will evaluate the children's groups as well. The awards for the young participants are gold, silver and bronze "Glagorets".
Preparations for the festival are towards the end. For the first time in its history, there will be stands for the spectators with over 1500 seats.
A roof is being built on the memorial to the miners' labour. It will become an event area where there will be a number of events on festival days.
