Mihail Mikov was born on 16 June 1960 in the North-Eastern town of Kula, Bulgaria. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, where he taught criminal law as a senior assistant.
Mikov obtained specializations in human rights in France, tax law in the USA, anti-corruption practices in Italy and local governance in Portugal.
He was an MP in the 38th, 39th, 40th and 41st National Assembly and was nominated by Vidin constituency, North West of Bulgaria.
He was Chairperson of the Parliamentary group of ‘Coalition for Bulgaria’ for the period July 2005 – April 2008.
He was Interior Minister from April 24, 2008 to July 27, 2009, in the government headed by Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev.
Mikov has been Chairperson of the 42nd National Assembly since May 21, 2013.
