A minibus with migrants crashed on the ring road in Sofia on October 23.
Upon entry from Trakia motorway, the vehicle crashed into a crash barrier at the cloverleaf on the ring road near "Mladost" residential quarter.
A total of 26 migrants who are from Afghanistan. The incident occurred at around 7.15 am.
The minibus was reported for tracking from Pazardzhik, at "Tsarna Matsa", the driver did not obey the stop signal by the traffic police team.
A chase ensued to the place where the minibus crashed. According to the Ministry of Interior, the driver fled and is currently being sought.
"At the moment, the situation at the Bulgarian-Turkish border is relatively calm compared to last year's dynamics. You know that the migration pressure for the year is 70% lower compared to the previous year. For the period from 1 January to 11 October, 2,087 persons were detained at entry, 2,728 were detained at exit, and 1,944 were detained without registration in the AFI system," said Mitko Dimitrov, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior.
