15th of September is the first day of the new school year in Bulgaria.
It starts with in-person attendance classes, with more than 706,000 students.
The first graders are approximately 58,000.
As part of the tradition, each school marks the beginning of the new school year with festive ceremonies. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the celebrations will take place outdoors and at different times for the different grades. The festivities take place only if there no other anti-epidemic measures in effect for the relevant area.
The students will go to the classrooms in accordance with a schedule and through different entrances where possible.
The parents of the first-graders are allowed to attend the celebrations in the yards, but will be in separate places. Parents will not be allowed to enter the buildings of the schools.
Students will not wear protective face mask outside. In the classrooms, only the students from grade 1st to 4th will be allowed not to wear masks.
