The new underground station Vitosha was officially opened on 20th of July. The extension of the second line of the underground from James Boucher boulevard to Cherni Vrah boulevard was completed ahead of schedule. It is 1 km long. The projetc cost 43 million euro. The station will connect the residential areas Hladilnika and Lozentets with the centre.
The underground lines in Sofia now have a total length of 40 km and 35 stations.
The opening ceremony wwas attended by Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova and the transport minister Ivalilo Moskovski.
The completion of this section of the underground is the first infrastructure project in Bulgaria, which was entirely finished with funding under the new programming period 2014 – 2020.
