Right on time, as in a novel by Agatha Christie, at 17.30 on 2nd of August, the legendary “Orient Express” train arrived in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna. For 131 years, the rolling stock has offered a luxury travel service on the route from Paris to Istanbul.
Passengers say that even in modern standards, the rail voyage on the express “train that never hurries” is an unforgettable experience full of fun. For 15 years now, Orient Express has made a stop in Varna before it continues to Istanbul. More than a century ago, Orient Express passengers took a ship to complete this leg of the journey, from Varna to Istanbul.
11 luxurious carriages of Orient Express arrived in Varna with 91 passengers from 6 continents. The journey costs between 7,000 and 10,000 euros, but the tickets sell out a year in advance of departing from Paris.
