The Bulgarian Parliament will discuss the draft decision for adoption of procedural rules for presentation and public disclosure of documents, nomination and hearing of candidates for the post of Chief Judicial Inspector with the Supreme Judicial Council.
The deadline for submission of nominations for the post will be 2nd April and the candidates have to present concept notes for the future work of the organization and to provide filed in assets, income and liabilities declarations.
The new procedure for electing a new Head of the Inspectorate of the Supreme Judicial Council was resumed, because at the end of January 2014, the Parliament voted to cancel the election of judge Vesselina Teneva. She was the only applicant for the post and was put forth by the left-wing Bulgarian socialist Party (BSP) and the liberal ethnic Turkish ‘Movements for Rights and Freedoms’ (DPS), the two parties from Bulgaria’s ruling axis. Allegedly her name was associated with a scandal for involvement in suspicious property transactions.
