Head of State Rumen Radev awarded the Presidential Badge of Honour to employees of the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection, military personnel, volunteers and structures of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence who participated in the fight against massive wild fires in Bulgaria in the summer. The event took place in the Coat of Arms Hall at the Presidency on October 30.
The ceremony was opened with the anthem of the Republic of Bulgaria. In addition to the honorees. It was attended by the caretaker Minister of the Interior Atanas Ilkov, the Minister of Defence, Atanas Zapryanov, and the Chief of Defence, Emil Eftimov.
"I address you with sincere gratitude and deep appreciation for your selfless actions," President Radev said. "You were the ones who bravely stood on the front line in the battle with fire, saving lives, property and nature, he said. Every fire extinguished, every life saved and every home preserved are a testimony to the high professionalism of the awardees," Radev also noted.
