Illegal migrants were detained on October 25 during a police operation in the capital's Levski residential district.
Teams of the Sofia Directorate of Interior detected them in the area of the intersection between Botevgradsko Shose Boulevard and Vitinya Street.
The driver of the vehicle was caught on the spot, but some of the migrants managed to escape, the Ministry of Interior said.
Several of them jumped into a river across the bridge, which is located right at the intersection.
Others have escaped by jumping over the crash barrier and are currently being searched for by teams from the Sofia directorate of the police.
So far, a total of 7 illegal immigrants coming from Morocco and Algeria have been caught. The operation of the Metropolitan Police is ongoing.
