At its regular weekly meeting on October 11, the Council of Ministers adopted a decision that revokes a 2018 government decision related to a future Belene nuclear power plant, the government press service said.
On June 29, 2018, the Council of Ministers adopted the decision in question No. 447 on the designation of the Belene nuclear power plant site as an object of national importance and on the construction of a nuclear power plant at the Belene site, for negotiations with potential investors and equipment manufacturers.
With today's decision, the Government instructs the Minister of Energy to take action to terminate the procedure announced by National Electricity Company for the selection of strategic investor(s) for the construction of Belene NPP and to notify the preferred candidates for the submission of binding offers, with whom a confidentiality agreement has been signed.
