Bulgaria’s Ministry of Tourism has paid subsidies to 89 tour operators.
The funds were provided from the state budget to the amount of BGN 11,254,576.97. This is one of the measures taken by the Ministry of Tourism to support the sector in overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the current support for the tour operators, funds for unrealized trips in the period 01.03 - 31.12.2020 should be returned to clients, the ministry specified.
The smallest amount of the payment amounts to BGN 150, and the largest one reached over BGN 1.3 million.
The amount provided is up to 15% of the turnover without VAT in 2019, and will be used to refund customers of tour operators for tourist trips that were cancelled due to COVID-19 for the same period.
