The monthly income needed to support a family of three has increased by BGN 136 since the beginning of the year. In the last quarter it reached BGN 2,600, according to a survey conducted by the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB).
"We insist, we have expectations, demands for at least a 15% increase in wages in view of the 5% increase in inflation next year," said CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov.
According to the trade unions' calculations, two-thirds of the working population are insured on less than the living wage, and over 40% receive an income of up to BGN 1,000.
"With specific plates and websites we cannot fight unfair behaviour respectively cartel agreements, respectively they are fought through the regulator, the Commission for Protection of Competition is the one that should regulate the market price," said Dimitrov.
