“Raycho Karolev” School in Gabrovo is partially closed as of today, September 28, after 16 teachers tested positive for COVID-19.
Most students will study remotely until the end of the quarantine period. Today, all non-teaching staff at the school were tested.
More than 70% of the students at Raycho Karolev School will switch to distance learning. These are children from fourth to twelfth grade. The majority of teachers with confirmed coronavirus will teach online, as their illness is with mild symptoms.
So far, none of the students have shown symptoms of coronavirus, but school officials are urging parents to refer to the health authorities. The tests for the children will be free-of-charge.
Only the youngest students from first to third grade attend classes in the school, studying in groups of ten.
The results of the tests of the non-teaching staff, which was tested today, will most likely become clear on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the regional health inspectorate in Gabrovo today reported an increase in the number of patients and a complicated epidemic situation. For the period from Friday to today there are over 40 new cases of COVID-19 in the district.
