The Anti-Corruption Commission responded to a protest blockade this morning, August 20, when protesters led by the leader of Boets (Bulgaria United for One Goal) civic movement, Georgi Georgiev, demanded access to the anti-corruption building and a meeting with the Head, Sotir Tsatsarov.

The commission responded to allegations that dozens of Boets reports of corruption remained "unanswered", saying: "An immediate inspection by the Anti-Corruption Directorate shows that since the beginning of the year there have been two reports of corruption concerning persons holding senior public positions submitted by Boets. Relevant operative actions are being carried out on one of them, and on the other one, the inspection has been terminated, because the indicated sender (Civic Movement Boets) has firmly denied being the author of the signal.

"The blockade of the building was carried out in violation of the Law on Assemblies, Rallies and Demonstrations, in the manner in which such actions have been taken so far with regard to the Ministry of Justice and the Central Election Commission. The management of the anti-corruption commission respects the right of peaceful protest of every Bulgarian citizen, including when it is directed against the activities of the anti-corruption commission itself, but cannot accept ultimatums for the admission of protesters in the building as a pre-condition for them to allow employees to their workplace. The protest actions affected the normal work of another institution with access through the blocked entrance - the National Bureau for Control of Special Surveillance Devices, which is also located in the same building as the anti-corruption commission at 6 St. Nedelya Square," the statement of the anti-corruption commission says.

The anti-corruption commission also says that "the reception of Mr. Georgi Georgiev by the Head of the commission was refused not only because of the rules for access to the building and the illegal blockade of its entrance. They state that "the main reason as to why any dialogue with this citizen is inappropriate, can be seen from photographs that are publicly available on the Internet.

The three separate photographs show Georgi Georgiev, Boets leader with PM Boyko Borisov; with the majority shareholder of collapsed CorpBank, Tzvetan Vassilev; and a photo of Georgiev with Lozan Panov, the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation.
