On Saturday night (August 22) on day 45 of the anti-government protests, the procession started from Sofia’s Independence square and reached Orlov Most (Eagles’ Bridge).

Trafic blockades at three key crossroads in Sofia remain in place: at Eagles Bridge; Independence square (outside the Council of Ministers) and at Sofia University.

The most commented topic among the protesters that evening was a statement made by the Speaker of Parliament, Tsveta Karayancheva, who said that the young pepople were withdrawing from the protests. According to protesters, it is a holiday season now and many more will join the protest in the first days of Septemeber, especailly on September 2, when a big protest is sheduled to take place.

Another commented topic was the celebrations at the historic Shipka peak and patrticularly the speech of the President Rumen Radev, who said that the road to constitutional changes goes through resignation of the government and early parelimentary elections.

About 21:00, protesters outside the Council of Ministers gave 20 four-wheel-drive toy cars to the Prime Minister Borissov as a presnt, wishing him to have a ride on them on the motorways built during his terms in offfice as PM.

The protest organisers called everyone who passed by the council of Ministers to light a candle in front of the building and pray for the resignation of the cabinet.

On day 46, Sunday, August 23, protesters gathered at the usual starting point of the protest outside the building of the Presidency in Sofia. Their demands remain unchanged: resignation of the government and the Chief Prosecutor.

The tent camps that block traffic at three key crossroads in Sofia remained in place.

As on previous days, the procession went to the tent camp at Eagles’ Bridge about 21:00, where there was a concert.

Shortly before that, the protesters were throwing diapers at the Cabinet building (Council of Ministers).

Shortly after 20:00, a group of protesters hung a pumpkin with the image of the Prime Minister on it and then broke it into pieces.

On Facebook, the protest organisers published a map of protesting Bulgarians around the world. The map showed 20 cities in various countries.
