Bulgaria and Austria will work for continuity in European policies within their successive presidencies. This is the common position of President Radev and the Foreign Minister of Austria, Karin Kneissl, met with Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva on 18th of January. Bulgaria and Austria have to constantly exchange information so there is no break in the important policies between the two presidencies, Minister Zaharieva said.
The European future of the Western Balkans was pointed out as an important common priority. The Austrian guest praised the way Bulgaria gurads the EU's external borders and said that Austria will continue to support Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen. It was generally considered that the multiannual financial framework, the change of the Dublin agreements on migrants and the solidary European protection of the external borders should be actively pursued.
